.... Below, I have listed some things you’ll need to consider while starting your own development project. Keep in mind, all project needs vary and may indeed require adherence to these, none, or additional considerations; this is what we here at PD have learned so far....

Students for Social Change
This just in from the Students for Social Change mailing list.
Hey Everybody,
Given the state of the world and the current economic crisis, allot of people wonder - "well, what can i do"?.
Well, allot. The movie we will be showing this coming Wednesday shows just how workers in Argentina that had been laid off, took over and ran factories after they had been closed during a sever economic crisis. It is a very inspiring film that shows just what can be done.
In our country last month almost 600,000 people lost their jobs. Every week 46,000 homes are being foreclosed. Things are bad, but things can change. We just have to decide we have had enough.
Come watch THE TAKE - Wednesday 2/18 - 6:15pm - Rosa Parks Rm. D
*A flyer is attached, so if you can please give some to you're friends and classmates.
Hope to see you all there.

Hot off the wire
This just in from one of our contacts in Morrito:
This could have huge implications for us. Namely, how do we make sure that we don't duplicate their work
However, if this goes somewhere it will be a great thing regardless for two reasons. One, Morrito might get 9 new schools and a fixed up medical clinic. Two, we got to know Morrito before the WHO, we will watch things closely (and hopefully help) during the WHO, and we will know Morrito after the WHO. This process will give us an excellent outsiders (somewhat anthropoligical) view of how the WHO and a community interact.
I am very excited, but how we go forward? Do you know any contacts who can get us more information? Specifically, I would like to be in contact with whoever is in charge of the project.

Hey gang,Now it occurs to me that perhaps the WHO goes around requesting proposals and then taking off, but that seems unlikely.
big things are happening so I thought I'd send a update. Consultants from the Panamerican Health Organization and World Health Organization came to Morrito last Monday and heard proposals from just about everybody, the mayor, the ministry of health, ministry of education, farmers, etc... I'm pretty sure I got approval for complete remodeling of the casa materna, and replacement of the roof of the Salon Comunal in Walter. It's looking real likely that the health center will get some much needed help, along with the possible construction of 9 schools in outlying communities. A friend of mine is going to Managua today to present plans for a potable water project similar to the one in Juigalpa, and it sounds real promising that it will get picked up as well. The a ton more projects on the bill also but those are the biggest, on the 23rd 13 potential donors, all form deifferent countries and organizations will come to see the proposals and pick which they will donate to. This could have potentially huge consequences for Morrito and its real exciting. You guys got a shout out during the meeting and people were excited to hear of another possible trip in August. Ill stay in touch and let you know what happens, till next time take care
